Best Places to Stay in Las Vegas on the Strip
There are many options for where to stay on the Las Vegas Strip. The prime location hotels that are on the main strip, which is Las Vegas Blvd, are the most sought after.
The Las Vegas Strip is over 4 miles long, so areas of the Strip are typically referred to as the North Strip, Central or Main Strip, and South Strip.
There are also several great hotels near the Main Strip, within a block or two of the Strip area, which are casino-free options and a great option for those wanting to get away from the Las Vegas party atmosphere at night.
Below is a comprehensive guide on the best hotels to stay at in each of the three main areas of the Las Vegas Strip and some hotel options near the Strip.
I have also broken down the pros and cons of staying in each area so that you can find the best fit.
Center Strip (Main strip area)
Staying in the center of the Las Vegas Strip is an excellent choice for people who want to be in the heart of Vegas and experience everything the Strip offers.
The Center Strip has some of the most iconic Casino Resorts, which have become Las Vegas landmarks.
Pros of staying in the Center of the Strip:
- Central location, within walking distance of many other casinos
- Popular attractions include the High Roller Ferris Wheel, Bellagio Fountains, The Bellagio Botanical Gardens, Paris Eiffel Tower, Fly Over Vegas, and more.
- Nearby famous shows include Absinthe at Caesars Palace, The Mentalist at Planet Hollywood, and O by Cirque de Soleil at The Bellagio.
Cons of staying in the Center of the Strip:
- Most crowded area of the Las Vegas Strip
- Typically the most expensive area to stay in Las Vegas
Best Hotels in the Center of the Strip
The Center Strip area has many casino and resort options, but listed below are three of the best and highest-rated resorts in the heart of the Strip.
The Bellagio
The Bellagio is a classic choice and one of the best places to stay in Las Vegas. The beautiful resort is themed as a Lake Como villa, and everything about this hotel gives an essence of high-end Italian luxury.
Several different room options are available at the Bellagio, from standard rooms to high-end luxury suites. To get one of the recently renovated rooms, book the “premier room” category.
The Bellagio is most famous for its impressive fountain shows, which happen twice an hour. The fountain shows occur at the Bellagio’s 8.5-acre man-made lake in front of the resort. Watching the Bellagio fountain show is one of the top things to do in Vegas besides gambling!
In addition to the fountain show, the Bellagio features a grand indoor conservatory and botanical garden. The gardens have several themes throughout the year, including a stunning Christmas theme in December.
The Bellagio is also home to the world-renowned show O by Cirque de Soleil. This incredible acrobatic show is one of Vegas’s most popular Cirque de Soleil performances and features a water theme. I was in awe of the dynamic water stage in the show!
Other amenities include the casino and high rollers lounge, luxury shopping, an incredible pool area with cabana rental options, a full-service spa, various restaurants and bars, in-room dining, pet-friendly rooms, and hotel concierge services.
If you are looking for a classic, beautiful resort in the heart of the Las Vegas Strip, The Bellagio is sure to be a great choice.

Caesars Palaces is a highly-rated casino and resort located in the center of the Las Vegas Strip. This stunning hotel is decorated in an Art Deco style with a Roman theme.
The hotel has many room options, from standard rooms to penthouse suites and luxury villas. The Augustus Tower is especially popular, as it has newly renovated rooms.
Caesars Palace is more than just a hotel and casino; it truly has something for everyone. Spend time relaxing at the Garden of the Gods Oasis Pool, or watch iconic music performances at the Colosseum Arena.
I love wandering in the Forum Shops, which is one of the best shopping malls in Las Vegas. Check out the free show in the Forum Shops and the giant aquarium while there.
Caesars Palace is also where you can see Absinthe, which is consistently rated as one of the top shows in Las Vegas.

The North Strip area is an amazing option, and while there are many choices of where to stay in Las Vegas, the following two hotels are the best options for the North Strip area.
The Venetian Resort
The Venetian Resort is a mid-range to luxury Las Vegas resort. It is the best place to stay on the north end of the Las Vegas Strip.
This Venice-themed hotel has everything, from a beautiful casino and high rollers lounge, bars and fine dining restaurants, luxury shopping, the famous Tao nightclub, and more.
The Venetian offers a number of beautifully curated suite-style rooms. It is the perfect option for couples looking for a luxurious stay in Las Vegas. I loved the split-level suites at Venetian with a sunken living room.
It is also an excellent option for families as the suite-style rooms are larger and more comfortable for a group.

The MGM Grand is a great option for the South Strip area. It is the largest hotel in Las Vegas, with over 6,000 rooms available and a large variety of food and entertainment options.
There is a variety of different rooms available at the MGM Grand. It is an excellent hotel for travelers looking for a more budget-friendly option directly on the Strip, as they have many decently priced standard rooms.
Try to get a room in the Grand Tower, not the West Wing, as the Grand Tower has more recently updated and spacious rooms.
The MGM Grand also offers stay-well rooms focused on personal wellness, suites, and the Skylofts for the ultimate luxury experience.
In addition to its large casino, the MGM Grand has a variety of restaurants, bars, and Hakkasan, a famous Vegas nightclub.

With a variety of restaurants, bars, and entertainment options, there’s never a dull moment at Mandalay Bay.
The only con of staying here is that it is a little away from all the other Strip casinos, but with all that you can do in the resort itself, you might never have to leave!

FAQs about Where to stay in Las Vegas
Below are some answers to frequently asked questions about finding the best place to stay in Vegas.
Is it worth it to stay on the Strip in Las Vegas?
The Las Vegas strip is the most happening place in Vegas, with iconic landmark casinos like Bellagio, Caesar’s Palace, Venetian, and luxury resorts like the Wynn and Aria. It is definitely worth staying on the Strip in Las Vegas at least on your first visit.
What part of Vegas Strip is best?
The Main Strip or Center Strip area is the best as you are close to all the major casinos and landmarks. You are in the prime location for entertainment shows and restaurants. The Bellagio, Caesars Palace, and Cosmopolitan are the best places to stay on the Center Strip.
Is it better to stay at Fremont Street or Las Vegas Strip?
Staying at Las Vegas Street vs. Fremont Street depends on your budget and preferences. The Las Vegas Strip is more expensive and upscale than the Fremont Street and my preference is always to stay on the Strip or near Strip.
Fremont Street might not be suitable for families with kids, as it is common to spot not so kid-friendly glimpses of Las Vegas.
What is the ideal length of stay in Vegas?
Vegas is a great weekend getaway destination, and coming on a Friday afternoon and leaving on Sunday night is perfect to catch some shows and try out some new bars, clubs, and restaurants. 2 to 3 nights are ideal for exploring the Las Vegas Strip. You should plan for longer if you want to explore the nearby National Parks near Las Vegas.
Where to stay in Las Vegas first time?
For first-timers to Vegas, I highly recommend staying in one of the hotels on the Main Strip area, like Bellagio, Caesars Palace, or Cosmopolitan.
This will ensure you have the best experience of everything the Las Vegas Strip has to offer in shows, clubs, restaurants, and bars.
For first-timers seeing all the different larger-than-life casinos is the biggest attraction. You will be able to easily walk to casinos on both the North Strip and South Strip sides from a central location.
Where to stay in Las Vegas with family?
When visiting Las Vegas with family and kids, I would recommend choosing a hotel that is casino-free and smoke-free for the best experience. The Vdara Resort and Spa is our go-to hotel when visiting with kids.
If not casino free, at least a hotel with a casino that is not right in the lobby.
Which are the best places to stay in Vegas for a Bachelorette party?
The Cosmopolitan is the best place to stay in Vegas when visiting with your girlfriends for a Bachelorette party. The hotel’s energetic atmosphere, trendy bars, The Marquee Nightclub, and a wide variety of restaurants make it a popular spot for experiencing the Vegas vibe. The three-story Chandelier is the best backdrop for some Insta-worthy photos!
Which is the best place to stay in Vegas for couples?
Both Venetian and Wynn are some of the finest resorts for couples in Vegas. The Grand Canal shops at Venetian are ideal for a romantic stroll, and taking a Gondola ride is a memorable activity for couples. Venetian is mid-range, while Wynn is more upscale, with a great buffet and an amazing spa.
Final takeaways: Best places to stay in Vegas
In conclusion, Las Vegas has a wide range of places to stay that cater to different tastes and budgets. Whether you prefer luxury resorts on the Strip or quieter hotels off the Strip, there’s something for everyone.
With its top-notch amenities, entertainment, and non-stop excitement, Las Vegas guarantees an amazing stay.
So, pick your favorite place to stay and get ready to enjoy all the glitz and glamour this city has to offer.
